Zeekr is an electric brand owned by Chinese automaker Geely, which also owns 82 percent of Volvo and 51 percent of Lotus. Geely is making a daring move as it forges ahead in the European electric vehicle market with the unveiling of the 2023 X urban EV by its premium EV subsidiary, Zeekr. Previously teased as the 003, this premium urban SUV is set to enter production later this year. With a length of 175.2 inches, width of 72.3 inches, height of 61.9 inches, and a wheelbase of 108.2 inches, the X EV embodies the concept of limitless inspiration, exploration, and imagination.
The X EV is built on Geely's Sustainability Experience Architecture (SEA), like its sibling the Smart #1 model, but is slightly longer, wider, and lower. Designed and conceptualized at Geely's Global Design Center in Gothenburg, Sweden, under the leadership of Stefan Sielaff, the X seeks to push the boundaries of urban SUVs. The frameless door design and exterior frameless mirrors contribute to the car's aerodynamic performance, while its split headlights, aggressive front bumper, and large wheel arches give it a bold and sporty appearance.
The Zeekr X has a small rear window with small windshield wipers, an extended roof spoiler, and slender taillights featuring a horizontal light strip illuminating the Zeekr logo in the center. The production model lacks door handles, with only push buttons visible at the base of the B and C pillars. Although the powertrain specifications are yet to be revealed, the X EV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds. This electric vehicle is set to hit the Chinese market in Q2 2023 and later arrive in Europe, with no word yet on the pricing.
