Geely is a Chinese electric car brand that aims to create smart and sustainable mobility solutions for the future. Founded by Li Shufu in 1986, Geely started as a refrigerator parts manufacturer and entered the automotive industry in 1997. Geely has been growing fast in the competitive electric vehicle market, offering a range of innovative and luxurious models that rival Tesla and other established brands.
One of the distinctive features of Geely’s electric cars is the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, which is a dedicated battery-powered vehicle architecture that can support various types of vehicles, such as sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and sports cars.
Geely currently sells two electric car brands: Geometry and Zeekr. Geometry is a mass-market EV brand that was launched in 2019 and has sold over 100,000 units as of June 2021. Geometry offers two models: Geometry A and Geometry C. The Geometry A is a mid-size sedan that has a range of up to 500 km and a starting price of $32,400 before subsidies. The Geometry C is a compact hatchback that has a range of up to 550 km and a starting price of $23,100 before subsidies.
Zeekr is a premium EV brand that was launched in 2021 and aims to compete with Tesla and other high-end EV makers. Zeekr offers three model: the Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009, and Zeekr X. The Zeekr 001 is a flagship sedan that has a range of up to 712 km and a starting price of $43,300 before subsidies. The Zeekr 001 also features a 12.3-inch smart display, a panoramic sunroof, and a lidar-based autonomous driving system.
In addition to these electric car brands, Geely also owns Volvo and Lotus, which are both developing electric vehicles.
Geely is not only a car brand but also a technology company that invests heavily in research and development. Geely also has a global presence, with offices and facilities in China, the United States, and Europe.
