The Audi SQ8 e-tron is set to release in the USA at the end of April 2023, two months after its launch in Germany and other European markets. While the exact price of the 2024 model in the US remains unknown, the base price of the standard Q8 e-tron in Germany is 74,400 euros, which equates to around $92,000 for the new SQ8 e-tron.
The BMW iX is a key rival to the SQ8 e-tron, with the iX xDrive50 offering more power (516 hp) and a starting MSRP of $84,100. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model X has seen a drastic price increase since the launch of the e-tron SUV, now starting at $120,990.
The SQ8 e-tron falls into the midsize crossover segment, measuring 193.5 inches in length, 76.2 inches in width, and 64.3 inches in height. The sportier SQ8 e-tron is slightly wider and lower than the regular Q8 e-tron and has a wheelbase of 115.3 inches.
The new SQ8 e-tron features a larger 106-kWh battery (114 kWh gross) and a charging speed of up to 170 kW, enabling the battery to be replenished from 10% to 80% in around 31 minutes. The range on a full charge is claimed to be 307 miles by Audi, but EPA estimates are typically lower, suggesting a more realistic range of around 275 miles.
With three electric motors generating a combined 496 hp and 718 lb-ft of torque, the SQ8 e-tron can go from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds and has a limited top speed of 130 mph. The air-spring suspension and adjusted gear ratio of the steering improve handling and grip, giving the SQ8 e-tron the assurance of a lighter vehicle.
