The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e is Lexus' first EV. Built on an e-TNGA framework shared with the Toyota BZ4X and Subaru Solterra, this angry-looking utility vehicle offers the usual luxury trappings and some innovative features, including a steer-by-wire yoke. But the RZ 450e's range - the most important aspect of any EV - is embarrassingly short. According to Lexus, the RZ 450 SUV will go up to 225 miles with minimal 18-inch wheels. Those ratings are in line with standard all-wheel drive, although the automaker will also offer front-wheel drive in other countries (which it is still considering for the United States). Although it shares its 65.6-kWh battery pack with the bZ4X, the Lexus Power Train has a more powerful dual-motor setup that is good for 308 horsepower. The exterior of the RZ is sharply styled with a floating ceiling, ducktail spoiler, and aggressive headlamps. The cabin has a more minimalist design, with most controls powered by a large 14.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display. RZ 450e performance scores have not been finalized either. Similar Toyota BZ4X XLE all-wheel-drive trims stickers combine 114 mpg city, 94 mpg highway, and 104 mpg. This Lexus will probably be similar.
