Buick announced that it will launch the all-electric Electra E5 — the brand's first production vehicle built on the Ultim platform, in the Chinese market in the first half of 2023. This electric car will hit the US market in 2024.At SAIC-Ultium GM's Center Factory in Wuhan, China, the first batch of Buick Electra E5 trial cars really left the assembly line on December 28.
A new version of GM's Super Cruise and SAIC-VCS GM's smart cockpit will both be included in the vehicle. A dual-motor AWD variant is likely to be added. It can reach a peak speed of 180 km/h with a 241 horsepower output. Although the battery size is unclear, the ternary lithium-ion battery pack is purchased from CATL.
The E5 is a five-seat car whose dimensions are 4892 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, and 1681mm in height with a 2954mm wheelbase and a 2570 kg curb weight. The wheel's size is 20-inch. A panoramic sunroof and metal roof racks are included as standard. The electric motor is built at the Wuhan Ultium Center Factory.
