Introduced:
Yamaha MT-09 2024 Breaks Cover Globally with Cosmetic and Mechanical Updates. The 2024 version of Yamaha's revered middle-weight street bike, the MT-09, has been unveiled for the global market. While retaining the same engine, the Japanese bike giant has given several tweaks to the features, components, and design of the model.
Styling:
Yamaha changed the look of the bike by adding a new LED headlight unit with a slimmer light cluster and sharper bodywork that was reportedly influenced by the manufacturer's motocross bikes. This includes a modified fuel tank that was created by the press moulding manufacturing method. The bike has a new LED taillight with a smoked bottom lens mounted separately from the brake lights at the back. The seating configuration has also been updated, with a separate perch for the rider and pillion to enhance riding posture and facilitate mounting and dismounting.
Features:
On the feature front, a 5-inch TFT-LCD instrument display that connects to the rider's smartphone via Bluetooth and the Yamaha MyRide app is a new feature for the MT-09. Using the Garmin StreetCross app and a helmet headset, the screen also offers full map navigation. Furthermore, the new handlebar buttons on the MT-09 and the MyRide app can also be used to regulate the ride modes. In addition to two customizable settings, there are three preset ride modes: Sport, Street, and Rain. The bike comes equipped with features like standard cruise control, a seat USB-C socket, and self-cancelling turn indicators as well.
Hardware:
The 2024 MT-09's other modifications are all hardware-related. While the rear mono-shock is adjustable and includes a review linkage for a smoother ride, the front forks are fully adjustable with 41mm diameter upside-down fork legs. The 17-inch spin-forged aluminium wheels have been wrapped in Bridgestone Battleax HyperSport S23M tyres. A single 245mm disc halts the rear wheel, while dual 298mm discs with four-piston brake callipers stop the front wheel thanks to a radial master cylinder supplied by Brembo. With a fuel capacity of 14 litres, the seat height and the kerb weight of the bike stand are 825mm and 193 kilograms, respectively.
