Recently, Dongfeng EV, a Chinese automaker, unveiled three new models of the Nano Box, a sleek and compact pure electric SUV. The Nano Box is a sub-brand under the Dongfeng Group that specializes in small electric vehicles and is currently developing a new platform for these types of cars.

Interestingly, the Nano Box was originally created by Renault, known as the Renault Kwid, and its electric version was named the Renault City K-ZE. However, in China, the car is produced by Dongfeng-Renault and exported to Europe as the Dacia Spring. Additionally, Dongfeng's own brands and sub-brands also produce vehicle variations, such as the Dongfeng Aeolus EX1, Dongfeng Fengxing T1, Dongfeng Fengguang E1, the Venucia e30, and the Dongfeng Nano Box, all of which are manufactured in the same factory.

Under the hood, the Nano Box boasts a front motor that generates 33 kW and 125 Nm of torque. According to Dongfeng, the car can accelerate from 0-50 km/h in just 6 seconds. The vehicle is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL with a capacity of 15.97kWh, offering a CLTC pure electric cruising range of 201km. The entry-level model only supports slow charging, taking 3 hours to reach a full charge, while the other two support fast charging, which takes only 0.53 hours to achieve a full charge.

In terms of design, the Nano Box boasts an overall round shape and measures 3732mm in length, 1579mm in width, and 1515mm in height, with a 2423mm wheelbase. The charging port is located at the front of the vehicle. The interior features a two-color design that mirrors the exterior and comes equipped with a 7-inch instrument panel and a 10-inch central control screen. The car is also connected to an app, providing features such as remote door control, remote air conditioning control, vehicle positioning/car search, charging management, and vehicle condition inquiry/diagnosis. The seat material is made of fake leather.

Furthermore, Dongfeng EV has plans to launch 3 to 5 new models in the next five years, including SUVs and sedans. Priced between 8,800 – 96,00 USD, the Dongfeng Nano Box Electric SUV is a cost-effective option for Chinese consumers looking for an affordable electric SUV.
