This is the new 2023 BYD Dolphin, a little electric hatchback designed for young people interested in technology. Three versions were introduced, with prices ranging from 16,700 to 19,600 USD. The BYD LFP Blade batteries power the BYD e-platform 3.0 on which the Dolphin is built. The Dolphin was the first BYD vehicle created using the "Marine Aesthetics" design aesthetic, which has curved yet sharply defined lines. Chief designer Wolfgang Egger of BYD created the language.
The 2023 BYD Dolphin features a front permanent magnet synchronous motor with two power options — 70 kW/180 Nm and 130 kW/290 Nm. The motor is coupled to a 44.9 kWh BYD LFP Blade battery pack that supports 60kW fast charging. 420 km and 401 km, respectively, of pure electric cruising range. Acceleration times from 0 to 100 kmph are 10.9 and 7.5 seconds, respectively.
Several single-color options are offered for the 2023 BYD Dolphin, including Pupu Pink, Taro Purple, Beibei Grey, Cheese Yellow, Surfing Blue, and Black. Additionally, three dual-color options are offered. The color has been compared to the sun setting on a tropical beach, and the name "Pupu Pink" is inspired by a Hawaiian and American Chinese dish called Pupu. The exterior of the 2023 BYD Dolphin remains unchanged from the outgoing design.
The dimension of the electric car BYD Dolphin Pure Electric 2023 is 4070 mm in length, 1770 mm in width, 1570 mm in height, and 2700 mm in wheelbase. The wheels are avaialble at 16 or 17 inches.
Interior & Exterior Features
The interior has a 12.8-inch floating center control screen, a 5-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a steering wheel with a flat bottom and several functions. There are two cupholders in the center console.
Real-time tire pressure monitoring, front seat heating, a 4-way power adjustable passenger seat, a 6-way power adjustable driver seat, a rear center armrest with a cup holder, a front parking radar, electric exterior mirrors, and a seatbelt warning light are all new features added to the 2023 BYD Dolphin. The new BYD Dolphin includes a new comfort mode in addition to the current three driving modes of the energy economy, snow, and sports. Two cupholders linked to a framework that can be locked down to a horizontal position are also accessible to passengers in the back seats.
