The Chinese company BYD Auto makes the all-electric BYD Dolphin subcompact hatchback. Outside of China, it will be sold as the EA1 and BYD Atto 2. BYD's all-new Dolphin model debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2022 under the code name EA1. The BYD Dolphin will come in three battery/motor configurations, with prices ranging from roughly $15,000 to $19,300 after subsidies.

The base model has a 70 kW motor and a 30.7 kWh battery for a maximum NEDC range of 301 km (187 miles). The price of this version is $14,950 (96,800 CNY). The following one has the same 70 kW motor and a larger 44.9 kWh battery for a maximum NEDC range of 405 km (252 miles). Two trim levels will cost $16,495 (106,800 CNY) and $17,267 (111,800 CNY) after incentives.

The highest model includes a 130 kW motor for somewhat improved performance and a 44.9 kWh battery. It costs $19,275 (124,800 CNY). According to the BYD website, the heat pump will come standard on all variants, which should significantly increase the winter range. An NFC vehicle key feature is available.
