Tata is a personal EV space that will continue with the Altroz EV is an all-electric hatchback. It was launched at the Auto Expo 2020. Tata built this model as an electric car, and its platform and powertrain are better integrated than some other EVs in the market. The battery and powertrain are the same as the Nexon EV, and Tata offers a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery with a single 95 kWh electric motor that powers the front wheels. Altro will have a 312 km electric range on a single charge; 0-80% charge should take about 1 hour when plugged into a fast charger. Visually, the Altroz EV is not too different from its non-EV version. An exclusive Teal Blue paint option, electric blue accents around the car, a redesigned front air dam, and the lack of a tail-pipe are the differentiating features on the outside. Inside, the lack of a mechanical gearbox and gear lever frees up space in the front. The Centre console is split in two, with floating cubby space on the dashboard and a gear-selector dial in front of the armrest. The Altroz EV show car at Auto Expo sported a rotary gear selector, though it remains to be seen if the model’s electric parking brake will make production. In terms of space and comfort, the Altroz EV will be no different from the standard Altroz. The Tata Altroz EV will launch within March 2022.
