Cupra has confirmed that it will put the dramatic Tavascan concept into production in 2024 as the firm’s second full-electric vehicle. While no details of the production version have been given, the Tavascan concept featured a dual-motor 302bhp electric powertrain, with an output similar to the forthcoming ID 4 GTX. It also uses a 77kWh battery to offer a range of around 280 miles. The Cupra Tavascan (codename: SE316/8) will be a compact SUV-coupe akin to the upcoming VW ID.5 and Enyaq Coupe iV models. It will likely be the most aggressive and athletic SUV in the VW Group family, though technically the same underneath. The Cupra provides three battery options, 52 kWh, 58 kWh, and 77 kW. The 52 kWh unit consists of 8 cell modules, a 58 kWh unit consisting of 9 cell modules, and a 77 kWh unit consisting of 12 cell modules. These battery packs have the potential to deliver a WLTP range of up to 280 miles. The dual electric motor produces power of 306 hp. Cupra hasn’t confirmed any interior dimensions for the Tavascan concept. You’ll need to be patient if the Cupra Tavascan sounds like the electric family SUV for you because it’s not due to arrive in showrooms until 2024.
